Job description

I am currently working with a worldwide specialist in fit out, technology, construction and development who now have an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for all financial aspects of projects working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and Project Manager. Prospective candidates will be currently working in a Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role, ideally degree qualified and with at least 1 years’ experience post qualification. The role will be based on a large-scale project in the education sector in the Reading area. The key elements of the project include structural refurbishment, recladding of an existing building and internal fit out to a high specification.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • The management of projects through the full project lifecycle, working on a range of projects including new build, extensions and fit outs.
  • You will be working on tenders and establish tender strategies.
  • To establish and manage supply chains.
  • The monitoring of financial progression of projects and to regularly communicate and assess potential impacts of changes to budgets.
  • To conduct monthly valuations whilst continually managing cash flow. 

 

Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 3 years’ quantity surveying experience post qualification within the construction industry.
  • Proven contracting experience - particularly a knowledge of JCT.
  • Strong procurement and package management experience.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects up to the value of £30m at any given time.
  • Must have commercial awareness; an understanding of and the ability to make profit whilst retaining relationships and company values.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • To be to demonstrate the ability to work with multiple site teams.
