Construction Buyer - Principle Building Company:

I am currently working with a customer focused principle building company that is based in North West London that provides design & build construction management for prime residential & commercial properties.

As the construction buyer you will be assisting the project/site managers and estimator with all of the procurement functions.

Working in the operations department, you and the team will be responsible for ensuring that the materials required for structures projects are provided to schedule and according to projected budgets. You will have a vital part to play in helping ensure the profitability of contracts, ensuring that the most cost-effective and appropriate materials are purchased. It is a great opportunity for you to learn and develop you procurement skills.

You will support the Estimator and where relevant (following appropriate training) undertake on your own the following:

·         Liaise with Project Manager/Site Manager on deadlines, project progress and project priorities.

·         Programme inspections with fabricators and suppliers

·         Contracting a range of suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations and agree delivery times.

·         Keep detailed records and maintain a well organised work schedule.

·         Assess the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers through the company supplier evaluation process.

·         Deal effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials.

·         Ensure compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials and services.

·         Produce advice to the team on the predicted cost of individual items.

·         Liaising closely with senior management at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided.

Essential Requirements:

·         Background in construction

·         Procurement, Buyer and contracting experience.

·         Strong Administration and organisational skills.

·         Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.

What you need to succeed:

There are no specific academic entry requirements, although you must have good communication and organisational skills. It is essential you have experience of construction or structures procurement, to ensure you understand the methods and processes, and how the whole job fits together.

This has the potential to be a busy role at times due to the volume of work, so it is a great opportunity to learn, but you will also need to be determined.
