We are working with one of the most desirable PLC house builders and developers who are looking to strengthen their team with a Development Manager.

 

As Development Manager, you will join a team of forward thinking, dynamic and fun to be around individuals and be involved in an exciting array of residential and mixed-use developments across the UK. The business itself has a low turnover of staff, offers ongoing support and training and it’s one of those names that people want to work for.

 

As Development Manager you will be working in the strategic division and will be expected to manage major development projects throughout the development cycle from cradle to grave whilst taking responsibility for the maximum profits delivered. You will be involved closely with the land team and take responsibility for value creation from the acquisition and planning processes and ensure that a clear program of works is established and complied with.

 

You will need to be comfortable in liaising with 3rd party consultants including architects and other members of the design team by setting briefs and making sure these are strictly kept to. You will also need to ensure than planning conditions and technical requirements are correctly analysed and dealt with to the right standards.

 

The Development Manager would be responsible for monitoring profitability, the timing of cash flows and acting as and when required to make sure these are dealt with. You will also need to have good people skills as you will be working closely with the sales and marketing teams in house as well as external design team members and planning authorities. You will have strong demonstrable experience of the development process and an understanding of the development appraisals. You will be required to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and need to show experience of managing the profitability of a range of development projects.

 

A role like this could suit an already proven Assistant Development Manager looking to take the step up or a Planner or Development Surveyor who is looking to move in to a wider development role or in to a client-side role from agency or consultancy. You will ideally have around 2-3 years’ experience and be MRTPI or MRICS qualified.

 

Ongoing support, training and career progression will be offered for those who wish to take it and longevity within the business is apparent and encouraged by future individuals coming in.

 

Key Requirements:

 

  • Degree qualified and ideally MRTPI or MRICS.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working on residential or mixed-use developments in London or the home counties.
  • Experience with working on strategic sites.
  • Calm and collected under pressure and confident in dealing with 3rd party consultants including design teams, planning authorities and in-house sales and marketing teams.
  • May suit a Planner or Development Surveyor looking to move from consultancy in to a client-side role.
