Job description

I am seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an industry leading house builder and their team in Hertfordshire. They construct quality low to mid rise homes and pride themselves on understanding the aspirations of all their buyers, not just in the type of home that suits the majority of the masses, but in terms that satisfies individuals in where they want to live.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Britain's leading national house builders. The North Thames division operate across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Bucks and Berkshire and are looking for a proficient Senior Quantity Surveyor who has experience of working within the house building industry on multi phase housing projects and can demonstrate their ability to work within a commercial environment, bolstered by a proven track record of successful high end and volume projects. Established Quantity Surveyors as well as Seniors will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial & Contractual
  • Analysis of tender allowances
  • The measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings), for valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting and agreement of interim valuations in accordance with those dates.
  • Administering and/or advising on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions 
  • Preparation of cost to complete
  • Financial Reporting
  • Cash management and maximisation
  • Cash Flow and Turnover forecast
  • Provision of standard reports
  • Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports in accordance with schedule of accounting period end dates and deadlines


Experience and Qualifications:

  • You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for a developer or main contractor, specifically on new build and refurbishment projects, as well as sound knowledge of JCT and NEC Conditions of Contract.
  • You will have sound experience of working within the same, or similar role previous.
  • You will be degree qualified and member of the RICS or IOB (or moving towards professional membership).
