Job description

Are you an accomplished Technical Manager who is looking for a step up or maybe you’re already a Senior Technical Manager with a strong track record who is looking for a change of scenery or doesn’t feel as though they’re being valued enough as an employee.

I’m working with an entrepreneurial, design led house builder who due to continued success and expansion are looking to strengthen the technical function with a Senior Technical Manager. You will be working on a high profile flagship scheme and will be responsible for overseeing the project as well as more junior members of staff including Technical Managers and Technical Coordinators.

As Senior Technical Manager, you will be reporting in to the Technical Director of the business however due to the structure of the company, you will not be micro managed but left to get on with the job in hand. You will be expected to report weekly to the Technical Director and on occasions in to the Managing Director of the business as to updates on the project, trouble shooting and adding valuable input in to driving things forward.

The role will be split between head office as well as on site as and when needed and you will be liaising with external consultants such as Architects, Engineers and external contractors to name a few. Also as you will be overseeing other members of staff, you must be a ‘people person’ who is easy to get on with and who offers valuable advice and input in what you do.

You will have at least 10 years’ experience on residential schemes in London or the surrounding home counties on traditional low rise housing as well as RC frame/steel structures as this is something which is non-negotiable.

This is a great opportunity to join a good team of individuals without the internal politics you find in some places. You will be offered ongoing support, training and career progression within as well as the chance to work on some very interesting, complex projects where each one is different from the last. There will be strong support from others in the team and there is a good basic salary, package, car allowance and discretionary bonus. There are plenty more projects in the pipeline and career longevity is something which is also apparent.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Civil Engineering or other relevant related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in the residential sector on medium to large projects earnt at a developer, contractor or house builder. (RC Frame experience is important).
  • A proven Senior Technical Manager or Technical Manager with a strong track record who is looking to take a step up.
  • Can oversee a large project comfortably on their own as well as overseeing internal employees and external consultants such as Architects, Engineers, Sub Contractors etc.
  • Able to keep calm under pressure and make difficult decision quickly.
  • A good problem solver who’s hands on and not afraid to get stuck in as and when needed.
