A Design Manager can be greatly interpreted across the industry however it is normally accepted to be the bridging role between the design and delivery aspects of projects. They will generally perform the same role as a Project Manager but will work very closely with the internal and external design teams from the pre-construction stages through to completion. Design Managers will generally come from strong architectural and design backgrounds, have sound knowledge of contractual and building regulations and have exceptional coordination skills.
Often reporting to a Senior Design Manager or Design Director, a Design Manager will oversee a small team of Design Coordinators and will on occasions be required to make site visits.
