Job description

The role

Responsible for creating and co-ordinating desirable and efficient residential development in a timely manner. Negotiating and communicating the progress of planning applications.

 

Key accountabilities

Key Performance Indicators Typical activities

• Prepare desirable and efficient designs.

• Add value through good design.

• Engage with local planning authorities, their consultees and other stakeholders and win their support for our proposals.

• Assist with the preparation and submission of planning applications and manage them through the approval process and resolve outstanding conditions to the region’s timelines.

• Achieve agreed deadlines and timescales.

• Deal with build issues that require the designer’s attention during the progress of the works.

• Conduct regular site visits and chair site project meetings if necessary.

• Preparation and co-ordination of transfer plans.

• Assisting in the co-ordination of and attendance at pre-start and other departmental meetings as required.

• Ensure all relevant stakeholders and internal customers are informed of key developments. Health and safety

• Be proactive in promoting a positive attitude to health, safety and the environment.

• Ensure you have read the Company’s health and safety policies and procedures and observe them at all times.

• Reporting any accidents or near misses immediately to your Manager and record them in the accident book.

• Ensure your workplace is kept tidy and any hazards are eliminated or reported to your line manager.

• Wear appropriate protective clothing on site at all times in accordance with company policy.

Skills & experience

 

• HNC or HND in Architectural Construction or Building Studies or working towards a relevant degree

• Previous experience working for a house builder

• Understanding of building regulations and planning process

• Proficient in AutoCAD

• Good communication skills

• Able to work under pressure

• Able to work with a high degree of accuracy

• A methodical approach to working practices

• Good team working skills.

• Customer focussed

• Behave in line with our values

• Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require it Desirable

• Qualifications in relevant professional body

• Additional experience providing design services to the house building sector

• Awareness of Code for Sustainable Homes

• Commercial awareness in both time, capital and reputation cost.

• Seeks continuous improvement in own development and Company’s working practice.
