Job description

My client is a privately owned, award winning house builder who have an outstanding reputation which is well known in the industry. They are known for designing and building bespoke residential developments in popular locations across Northamptonshire and the East Midlands. The homes are regularly sold off plan and demand is high due to the high specification finish of these homes. Generally they will build in excess of 500 units per annum with further plans to increase this in the next 12 to 24 months.

As part of their expansion plans they're looking for an experienced Senior Architectural Technician or Design Coordinator. As most of the drawings in the business are done in house, they're looking for someone from a strong architectural background who can work closely with the Design and Technical Director. They're looking for someone who has a desire to progress within the business as a number 2 and someone who wishes to move in to a Design Manager position as the business continues to grow. You will need to be someone who is a confident individual when it comes down to layout plans, working drawing packages and ideally has on site project experience.

As the business is flexible on the individual they're after, they would look at a variety of backgrounds so you may be a Senior Architectural Technician or Technologist looking for a move in to a client side role. A Technical or Design Coordinator who has strong experience on residential projects and from a strong architectural background. A current Design or Technical Manager who is able to work on layout plans, working drawing packages and know what to look for when it comes to the design and build process. A layout designer with a national or privately owned house builder who wants mote in their career.

This is a very varied role so you will be involved in a variety of tasks including layout design, meeting parishes, submitting NHBC conditions, planning drawings, working drawings and plot specifics. This will give you great experience on working on projects throughout the cradle to grave process and will keep you constantly interested and challenged.

There will be ongoing support and training throughout your time with the business and career progression and promotion within is strongly encouraged. They have a low turnover of staff in the business which always says a lot about the way the company is run and how much the employees enjoy working there.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified ideally in Architecture.
  • A proven record of working on residential based projects.
  • Able to produce layout designs, planning and working drawings packages.
  • Someone who has on site project experience would be of particular interest however this is not essential.
  • A calm and collected individual who has the ambition to become a number 2 within the business and build a team around you as they grow.
  • You may be someone from an architectural practice or already with a house builder or developer.
  • Wants to be part of something and help drive the expansion plans forward.
