Architectural Technologist

  • Sector: Design & Technical
  • Location: Surrey
  • Job type: Permanent
  • Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum + package
Job description

The Company:

I’m working with an entrepreneurial, privately owned house builder who have an outstanding reputation for designing and building exquisite homes in locations where people want to live. The company are involved in a variety of residential projects across the Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire regions and these vary from large one-off houses for wealthy individuals to developments of around 30-40 units of low rise traditional housing to small blocks of apartments.

The company generally has a small team of switched on individuals who know their stuff, so it feels more like a family opposed to just working with colleagues. On top of that they have a low turnover of staff as well as holding many social events and there are no internal politics like you’d find in most businesses.

The role:

Due to continued success and expansion, they are now looking to bring the architectural function in house and move away from external consultants which they have been using. This is a new position within the business, so you will be working closely with the Owner and Directors on current and future residential projects and there will be plenty of career progression and opportunities on offer.

Due to this expansion they are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist with strong residential experience to join their close-knit team of individuals. You may be working in residential practice who in turn work with developers, house builders or contractors or may already be working in a client-side role and looking for a change of scenery.

You will be involved in the technical and design functions of the business from inception through to completion and if you’ve had experience of project managing residential projects then this will be of strong advantage. As this is a new position in the business, there is some flexibility for the role to be moulded around you however longevity and career progression will certainly be on offer.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree qualified in Architecture
  • Strong IT skills with experience of AutoCAD/Revit, Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Experience of technical aspects of house building and up to date UK building regulation knowledge.
  • Strong residential experience, ideally working with house builders, developers or contractors.
  • Understandings of the planning legislation would be beneficial but not essential.
  • A calm and collected individual and a team player who can liaise with other internal and external consultants.
  • Strong organisational and work management skills.
  • Good time management skills and able to stick to tight deadlines.
  • A good problem solver who can solve technical issues efficiently and effectively.

What benefits will I get?

The salary on this occasion would be up to £50,000 basic plus package however this will depend on your level of experience and how much relevant exposure you may have. The package will include:

  • Company car or car allowance
  • Pension
  • Healthcare
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Holiday
  • Death in service
