Job description

The Company:

We are working with a reputable multi-disciplined construction consultancy who work on a wide variety of high profile projects including residential, hotel, education, commercial and retail across the UK. The company works closely with many large prestigious developers to provide risk management, analysis and consultancy advice to make sure that value can be added throughout the delivery process. The company is well established with a low turnover of staff and whilst the main number of projects are residential, it will give you experience working in other sectors.

The role:

As an Assistant Design Coordinator, you will be responsible and accountable for assisting the design team programmes and monitoring these to ensure the delivery is on time and to budget. The client is looking for someone who wants a career and longevity and is hard working and reliable to progress through the ranks internally. You will also be involved in the following;

  • Working closely with the design and technical team in house as well as third party consultants including Architects, Engineers and others.
  • Providing suitable design and technical solutions on site to complex problems.
  • Motivating the team and ensuring targets are known, agreed and met on time with all parties involved.
  • Competent in dealing with planning permissions and to manage external consultants including Architects and Engineers to qualify design plans.
  • Management of the flow of internal information and to ensure coordinated comments are returned to designers and ensuring lead consultants are coordinating the design including subcontractor elements.
  • Able to work closely with others, have a good temperament and be calm under pressure at all times.
  • Reporting into the Design Manager and Design Director of the business, you will be responsible for smaller projects as well as assisting in larger projects across London and the surrounding home counties.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering or other relevant qualifications.
  • RC frame experience is desirable however not essential.
  • At least 1 or 2 years’ experience in a technical or design coordination role.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of AutoCAD/Revit, Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Experience of technical aspects of house building and up to date UK building regulation knowledge.
  • A good understanding of the planning legislation is beneficial.
  • Must have experience of working for a developer, main contractor or architectural practice on residential based projects.
  • Experience on London based projects will be beneficial.
  • Strong organisational and work management skills.
  • Good time management skills and able to stick to tight deadlines.
  • A good problem solver who can solve technical issues efficiently and effectively.

 What benefits will I get?

The salary on this occasion would be up to £40,000 basic plus package however this will depend on your level of experience and how much relevant exposure you may have. The package will include:
