Job description

We are working with a leading regional main contractor in Cambridgeshire, who are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to help oversee projects across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare and leisure – typically up to £50m in value. You will be based in Cambridge working on site with occasional travel to their offices in Bedford.


Established 50 years ago the business have a substantial pipeline of work to deliver for the foreseeable future in Cambridgeshire and are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with minimum 1/2 years’ experience from either a main contractor or consultancy background.


Salary in the region of £25,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience) plus package.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for Valuations, Variations & Final Accounts as directed by line manager.
  • Monthly stock taking for external valuations.
  • Prepare and agree daywork sheets.
  • Measurement and valuation of subcontractors work for payment and Final Account purposes.
  • Assisting QS to ensure that payments to sub-contractors are made on time and in accordance with the subcontract agreement
  • Assisting with preparation of external valuations
  • Assisting in preparation of financial reports by taking relevant site measurements and/or measuring from drawings as directed by line manager.
  • Monthly stock taking for internal valuations
  • Assisting in preparation of pre-cost estimates, analysis of Head Office cost prints and divergences between pre-cost estimates and Head Office cost prints.
  • Preparing material reconciliations.
  • Preparing and submitting material delivery sheets


Education & Qualifications:


  • HND or Quantity Surveying degree
  • Experience working for a contractor or consultancy
  • Driving License
