Job description

I am looking for an experienced Buyer or Buying Manager to join a leading house builder in West Malling, Kent, to manage the buying and scheduling of materials to a growing portfolio of sites in Kent.

This is a fantastic opportunity where a senior individual will be building a team around them as the region grows. In this role you will prepare accurate quantities and material schedules, competitively source and co-ordinate the supply of plant and materials required for development projects. You will proactively work with suppliers, inspect site and manage any issues that arise within procurement.

Salary is up to £60,000 for the right candidate plus comprehensive package including company car/car allowance, pension, bonus and healthcare.

Duties include;
- To prepare accurate quantities and materials schedules.

- Using the appropriate tender documentation effectively and efficiently procure quotations, negotiate and place plant and material orders within required           timescales

- Provide cost-data feedback to Regional Estimating Department.
- To support the Site Manager with co-ordination of material deliveries to enable construction work to proceed to agreed programmes and to assist and monitor the     site control of materials.
- To review and forecast latest material and plant cost estimates on a monthly basis. Attend Cost - Review meetings.
- Attendance at monthly site meetings.
- Working with external employers such as Housing Associations including proposal and approval of materials, obtaining warranties etc.
- Working with other disciplines to seek continuous product development and value engineering.  

- Providing feedback to Technical Department regarding cost and buildability issues.
- Working with internal and external personnel in a professional manner.
- The procurement of materials and plant in accordance with Group Pricing Agreements and - Mandatory Trading Agreements and where appropriate outside those Agreements.
