Job description

I am working with a top 10 national house builder in Redditch, South Birmingham who due to continued success are keen to appoint an Engineering Manager to be an integral part of the Technical team reporting into the Managing Director. The business is a leading house builder in the West Midlands with a busy pipeline of work to deliver over the coming years, all projects are large scale multi phase housing schemes.

Your role as Engineering Manager will be to support and manage the team as well as progressing a number of housing developments through the delivery of cost effective engineering solutions. You will need to be adaptable and strong in your management approach with a consistent approach to managing external consultants.

Competitive salary £50,000 - £60,000 plus package including company car, pension, bonus and healthcare.


Key responsibilities:

  • To deliver the most cost effective solutions for any technical and engineering aspects on the development.
  • Appointing and managing civil engineering consultants to produce highway and drainage designs.
  • Co-ordinating the Code for Sustainable Homes, Robust Detail and Building Control submissions.
  • Overseeing the initial geotechnical investigations, site archaeology and ecology requirements.
  • Co-ordinating the structural engineering aspects and foundation design solutions for each development.
  • Act as the project point of contact for the Construction and Commercial teams on each project.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • You to be qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a civil engineering or building-related discipline with sufficient residential project experience.
  • It is preferred that you have worked for a house builder or contractor in a previous role.
  • By way of technical experience, you will be conversant with manual for Streets and DMRB requirements current building regulations and CDM you will also have a thorough knowledge of current EA/Water Authority/Highway regulations and adoption agreements.
  • Ideally would also like you to have experience on Autocad, Micro drainage, PDS or a similar drainage design package.
