Job description.

An exceptionally well-funded privately owned property investment and development company is looking to appoint a senior land manager to head up the land-buying function for the business.
The head office is in Leicester but they operate UK-wide and they are a real estate investment business with a track record of secure and buying sites across the UK in specifically the residential sector.
You will report directly to the managing director and be tasked with sourcing opportunities. You will be a very ambitious, money-motivated land buyer who is a deal junky. You will love sourcing off market sites where a large profit can be made and be exceptional at beating the competition to the deals.
You will be an experienced land operator with 10 years + post grade experience for a house builder, investment fund or strategic land promotor. Whilst you won’t be a town planner you wil have a detailed knowledge of planning and have managed and led planning applications.
Ideally, you will have a background in getting the planning gain and disposing of sites to national house builders or development funds. You must have a detailed deal sheet of sites in 50 – 250 unit range with mixture of greenfield and brownfield schemes.
The business is a very dynamic and entrepreneurial one. As such you will be given a high level of autonomy to grow and develop the business unit as you see fit. This is a real opportunity to grow and develop your career to land director level at a fast pace.
Critically and firstly, you will be a born deal maker and have a track record of doing 3-4 land deals a year.

  • Sourcing and acquiring land for residential development, ideal sites are 50 – 250 units
  • Negotiating with landlords or agents of terms to purchase land
  • Undertaking initial viable and feasibility studies on all sites under consideration
  • Appointing and managing external planning consultants but you will be the ultimate lead on any project
  • Deal with disposal of sites once planning has been gained.

Key Requirements

  • Degree-qualified and ideal property-related
  • Natural born deal maker doing 3-4 land deals a year consistently.
  • Experienced Land buyer who has a proven background in sourcing off-market deals
  • Currently working for either a national residential developer or a high-profile investor or agency.
  • Detailed understanding of the planning application and appeals process.
  • A strong network of contacts in the land agency world.
  • Determined, hungry and ambitious.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently from the rest of the team.
