Job description

I am currently working with an award winning house builder in Stansted, Essex that prides themselves on being a market leader in the counties residential market. Their exceptional standards and expert craftsmanship has built a reputation for high specification house building in the region.

Due to continued success the business is now looking to expand and recruit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor that is looking to be part of a growing construction team that specialises in creating high specification new homes within the region. To be considered for this role it would be advantageous if you have a background in either high end residential developments including low and medium rise schemes. Key Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor:

  • The identification & procurement of suitable sub-contractors.
  • The negotiation & letting of subcontracts within required timescales.
  • Providing the cost-data feedback to Divisional Estimating Department.
  • Administration & management of the financial aspects of the development.
  • Reviewing and forecasting the latest cost estimates and reporting
  • The relationships with external employers such as Housing Associations undertaking valuations, cash flow forecasts, obtaining warranties, etc.
  •   Prepares and submits notices and applications for Client / Agent for Extension of Time claims

Desirable criteria:

  • Passionate about construction and house building.
  • Wide knowledge of Construction Industry processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of methods of measurement, standard forms of contract and reporting procedures, preparation of contractual claims.
  • Qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
