Job description

We are working with a leading residential developer in Manchester (Sunday Times top 10 companies to work for), who are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to help deliver medium sized housing developments in the region. The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Manager and will be primarily based from their offices in Manchester.

The Role:

  • You’ll manage the entire financial cycle for up to three contracts at any one time, from the preparation of anticipated build costs through to the procurement, payment and final evaluation of subcontractors.
  • It’s a great role for those who love autonomy and exposure, as you’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of key internal stakeholders from the Land Team through to the Managing Director.   You’ll also be working with our external contractors, suppliers and consultants; agreeing trading terms and contract negotiations.
  • You’ll be responsible for preparing construction budgets, monitoring costs, preparing schedules, estimates, making payments and monitoring procurement of subcontracts and materials.

About you

  • You’ll have a background in Construction, with previous experience as a Surveyor, in residential development, preferably within New Homes with some Buying exposure. Ideally you will be someone with experience in residential developments (preferably with low rise/apartments), experience of managing and procuring sub-contractors and carrying out CVRs.
  • You’ll hold the HNC or HND qualification and we’d prefer it if you were a member of a professional body RICS or MOICB.
  • It’s important that you’re a commercially astute negotiator and have experience in measuring drawings, preparing bills of quantities and other standard surveying techniques.
  • You must also hold a valid UK drivers licence.

How you’ll be rewarded

  • Competitive in the region of £45,000 - £55,000 plus comprehensive package:
  • Annual holiday entitlement - 24 days + Bank Holidays
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Company car or cash car alternative
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Childcare Voucher Scheme
  • Training Courses
