Job description Quantity Surveyor
Milton Keynes
£60k + package

I am working with one of the UK leading PLC housebuilders who have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join Commercial department in their East Division. The role will be based in the Milton Keynes office and would be reporting to the Commercial Manager. 

They are looking to pay £55k on the basic with a good package on top of your salary. 

Your Main Responsibilities
Pre Commencement

•Agree tender list and review site build strategy, site overhead provision, build programme and site resource requirements.

•Compile tender packages for all sub-contract trades and despatch via Viewpoint ‘E-tendering’ in accordance with Commercial Best Practice Manual.

•Receive tenders and qualify against latest trade specification (scope of works) & general specifications (sales specification)

•Obtain authorisation to ‘let’ all sub-contract orders.

Post Commencement

•Complete monthly valuation ticks with the site team and certify payments via self-billing where applicable.

•To liaise with Company Management and provide all necessary forecast and site budget information to meet the business’s reporting requirements.

•Control and report post contract cost movements per development every month.

•Provide such monthly reporting as required by the Commercial Manager.

•Present at monthly CVR meeting regarding the commercial performance of designated developments

•Review monthly Site Overhead expenditure with the Area Build Managers.

•Review Professional Fee provisions and statutory service cost, and credits, with the Technical Department.

•Complete and agree sub-contract final accounts within 3 months of the last legal completion on-site and prior to the first release of retention to the individual sub-contractors.

About You
Education, Training or Qualifications

• HNC / HND in Surveying

• Experience maybe gained from a similar position or promotion

• A good understanding or building regulations and legal obligations

• A good knowledge or construction methods and materials Special skills or knowledge

• Ability to assess and analyse information

• Good understanding of budget management 

Interpersonal Skills and Attitude

• Excellent communications skills

• Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism of work

• Good team working skills

• Accurate with an eye for detail
