Senior Construction Manager

Central London

£120,000 + benefits & bonus


I am looking to recruit a strong, self-motivated Senior Construction Manager on behalf of one of London’s leading land & property developers.

The successful individual will be the lead CM on one of Central London’s most famous developments.


This position will be reporting directly into the Head of Projects, you will be expected to work closely with the Design Team, produce reports & recommendations to Head of Projects and assist in the preparation of development programmes.

You will be expected to provide input into the strategies provided developed by Quality Control, Material Specification, Inspection and Design Drawing review.


Duties also include:

  • Review the Design Team deliverables and key decisions throughout the planning, design and construction process from inception of the design to completion of the works. This will include the review and approval of the documentation to be issued for, but not limited to, the purposes of Planning, Building Control, Design Stage Reports, Tender and Construction issue.
  • Monitor and review Contractor EH&S documentation and performance on site.
  • Review, comment and monitor the Contractor construction methodology to ensure that they fully comply with all contract requirements, supported as required by the other members of the team.
  • Liaise with each Contractor and ensure that separate projects/contracts do not impede or detrimentally affect each other.
  • Ensure sufficient resources from Contractor and Design Team are available for the programme requirements to be met.
  • Work with external bodies and statutory authorities (Building Control, Planning departments, EA etc) to ensure conditions are complied with and signed off in good time and that there is consistency of approach.
  • Agree a quality management strategy with the Contractor.
  • Review Contractor sub contract tender documentation where applicable to ensure all conditions are met.
  • Liaise with local community/neighbours with the Contractors as necessary.
  • Protect company interests at all times.


The ideal candidate will:

  • Preferably hold a technical degree with professional qualifications.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Experience working on schemes of 100+ units’ high-volume residential developments.
  • Experience working in the London/South East Residential market.
  • Possess a demonstrable familiarity with construction through to completion.
  • Advising design teams on the technical aspects of the construction process.
  • Reviewing technical drawings and creating creative solutions to overcome design issues during design stage for constructability.
  • Have experience of programme, cost and contractor management and logistics on large scale, complex and high-volume projects (exceeding £10 million).
  • Regularly provide regular project updates.
