Job description

I’m working with one of the leading PLC house builders, who are going through an exciting and sustained period of growth. Due to this success, the company is now looking for a Senior Technical Manager to join their team.


Reporting in to the Technical Director, you will be involved in a variety of low rise traditional housing developments across the Essex and the Hertfordshire locations. As Senior Technical Manager, you will be providing project management support across a variety of housing developments and overseeing the internal and external consultancy teams including Architects and Civil Engineers. You will also be providing support to internal customers to ensure these projects are delivered on time and within budget whilst maintain the highest build quality which the company prides its business on.


You will be involved in projects from inception through to completion and working closely with the land team on value engineering and having strong input into project viability appraisals on future sites. You will need to audit working drawing to ensure consistency and accuracy of information, making sure they comply with the strict UK building regulations and have strong management and leadership of design team meetings.


As Senior Technical Manager, you will oversee a small team of individuals including Technical Managers and Technical Coordinators across numerous sites, so you will need to be a calm and collected individual who isn’t afraid to stand up and speak their mind as and when required.


You will ideally be degree qualified in Architecture or Engineering however other relevant property degrees or qualifications will also be considered. You MUST have at least 5 years’ relevant experience working for a residential house builder at a similar level or may be an experienced Technical Manager who is looking for a step up. We will also consider individuals from architectural practice who can demonstrate strong multi-unit, residential based experience and managing multi-disciplined teams of consultants.  You will have up to date working knowledge of current UK building regulations and NHBC guidelines and have strong understandings of CDM regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Architecture or Engineering however other relevant property degrees or qualifications will also be considered.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience for a house builder or developer at a similar level or an accomplished Technical Manager looking for a step up.
  • Able to demonstrate prior management of a multi-disciplined team of internal and/or external consultants.
  • Up to date full working knowledge of the UK building regulations and NHBC guidelines.
  • Calm and collected under pressure who can oversee a team of both junior and senior members of staff.
