Reports To Land Directors / Group Land Director / Managing Director

 

Job Overview

This role will see you responsible for the identification and securing of sites with support from other members of the team. Your aim will be to secure land opportunities in line with the prevailing company strategy and direction. You will be responsible for formulating and implementing the most appropriate strategies for identifying and formulating bid proposals for the right sites, with the aim of securing an annual quantum of such opportunities as part of the wider team target and on terms which meet the company criteria. You will be responsible for reporting on the progress of your sites and updating related administration in a timely and efficient manner.

A successful Senior Land Manager / Land Manager will have excellent organisational and communication skills with an ability to manage a busy and varied workload of projects efficiently. Senior Land Managers / Land Managers will be strong proactive team players and effective decision makers. The role will require you to be adaptable to changing circumstances and be able to think creatively in response to change and in seeking continual improvement.

The role requires you to meet, liaise and negotiate with landowners, property agents and other external professionals at various levels. The role will also require continual engagement with other staff across a range of disciplines, predominantly legal and planning and at a range of levels.

As part of this role you will need to have a good understanding of the wider business needs. You will be commercially minded, seeking to maximise the businessprofits through controlling costs and balancing the risks and rewards of a project.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Main duties include:

  • Formulating and implementing effective strategies for identifying sites.
  • Formulating and submitting offers to secure new promotion opportunities in line with company protocol through the appraisal, pre-bid and planning pack processes.
  • Attending meetings and interviews with prospective landowners and their agents to secure new sites.
  • Building up strong rapports with others, including with landowners, colleagues, property agents and other relevant professionals.
  • Recognising and responding to the site opportunities to ensure the best possible chances of success and negotiation to make sure sites are secured on the optimum terms in line with company criteria in terms of financial return etc.
  • Ensuring effective team working across the wider department.
  • Ensuring that sites progress through the legal process in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that related administration is kept up to date, taking part in handover meetings to project teams and maintaining a watching briefon sites where future input may be required by the project teams.
  • Ensuring that clear lines of communication are maintained with colleagues within the project/planning and legal teams, as appropriate.
  • Acting with professionalism and integrity at all times.
