Job description

My client is a national, award winning house builder with 9 offices across the country. They are renowned for working on developments from 30 units up to 500+ in size and are known for having a low turnover of staff, good office environment and enjoyable place to work. They have recently won a number of residential and mixed use projects across the Somerset and Gloucestershire regions and so need further personnel to oversee these projects.

This means a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join their close knit team. As Technical Manager you will be based out of their regional office in Bath but will be expected to travel to sites as and when required which will normally be no further than around 40 miles each way. The main aim of the role is to develop and manage the technical processes between the external consultants and the business you will be working for. You will need to ensure the best possible commercial designs for each scheme and that information and approvals are in place to allow the delivery teams to build to the required standard. 

You may be an experienced Technical Coordinator looking to take the step up or an already experienced Technical or Design Manager who's looking at new opportunities in the area. You will ideally be working at a competitor house builder or developer and be a confident and well able individual. You need to be able to oversee numerous sites throughout the build process and confident in liaising between external consultants and in house teams to oversee projects from cradle to grave. You will ideally be degree qualified in architecture, engineering or hold another relevant degree and be able to prove previous experience in managing multi unit residential projects.

In return, you will be offered ongoing support and training and one thing the business is proud of is promoting people internally. The team is about 5 strong in the technical department and this role gives you strong opportunities to work with other parts of the team including the land, commercial and construction teams on projects. 

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified and ideally property related (Architecture, Engineering HNC etc)
  • A proven track record of working on residential based projects.
  • Able to work alone and manage your own projects as well as working in a wider team.
  • An experienced Technical Coordinator looking to take the step up in to a Technical Managers position or an already experienced Technical or Design Manager looking at a new opportunity.
  • A full technical understanding and knowledge of building regulations.
  • Understanding of technical detailing including building regulations are important.
  • An ambitious, career driven individual who is willing to learn and grow in the team.
